Mo,Great job on Pit Masters,You make Iowa PROUD. Im from Grinnell Iowa and was hoping to get some advice from the King. I lost my retirement job going on 5 years now and I decided to take up my hobby and try to turn it into a carieer. I love BBQ,my favorite is Chicken but Pork Butt and Briskit are hard to beat. Ive done several fairs and small town events around Iowa but my marketing skills are lacking to say the least. I smoke over Hickory and Apple but have never tried White Oak. I come from a small family,my folks are in their mid 80s,my love for BBQ came from a good friend from Memphis Tenn. I cook over a Southern Pride SPK 500,in the competition world propane is out and I do understand. Watching you on Pit Masters has inspired me,any advice for a small town guy who wants to make a living out of BBQ? Told my food is GOOD,need to learn to market myself and find a good partner to work with. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. In my eyes your the KING of BBQ,Ide love to make a living out of my Love for the SMOKE,Have a Great Fall MO,hope the family is doing well, Sincerely Bob Penne Owner of Smokin Hog Pit-Stop BBQ, 1429 Summer Street,Grinnell Iowa 50112 Cell#641-990-9727

Great job ?o. It sucks that they don’t judge what you were there to cook. Side challenges will be the death of that shiw. I will someday eat at you establishment. Thanks for your skill and energy & don’t stop doing what you do!
PIT MASTER MOE, I JUST WANTED TO TAKE A SECOND AND CONGRATULATE YOU ON YOUR CHAMPIONSHIP APPEARANCE. I LIVE IN SAN ANTONIO TEXAS AND WOULD BE PROUD ANY DAY OF THE YEAR TO EAT YOUR HOG. SHAME ON TLC AND THE WAY THEY RAN THIS YEARS SHOW WITH THEIR CHALLENGES. MANY GOOD TEAMS WERE ELIMINATED INCLUDING YOURS BY IDIOTIC MISREPRESENTATION OF WHAT TRUE BBQ IS ALL ABOUT. WHEN I GET UP IN IOWA MY WIFE AND I WILL MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO EAT YOUR FINE BBQ. KEEP ON SMOKIN MOE….JEFF SIMS
Moe,
Your food looked great on the challenge. Can’t wait to get out your way and try it. I agree with some of the others, I want to try what you are an expert at, not some side dish or quirky food thrown at you during the contest.
Moe! You deserved that win! Don’t know when it really happened but I saw it last night (Tuesday August 2nd)! Was totally full and your food was still making my mouth water and, it so delectible it was like I could smell every savory flavor. My mouth’s still watering Moe every time I think about it! GREAT JOB!!!
CAN YOU GIVE ME A CALL AT 720-371-7282
Moe, The show may/may not be a re-run, but I’m watching BBQ Pitmasters right now and am so glad to see you winning. Your food looks awesomely delicious and your personality during the whole process is simply wonderful. Yes, you know what you’re doing; yes, you are a professional who is at the top of his game; but you also present yourself in a modest and kind fashion. The other guy (you beat him in the “pulled pork” portion of the show) is arrogant and a down right bore. You deserve to win not only because of your food but because of your sweet spirit. Congratulations and keep up the great work and great heart!
I’m sure this is kind of off subject however , I’m considering beginning my own blog and was thinking about what is actually essential build? I am thinking developing a blog site much like your own http://luckydogbbq.com/moe-cason-from-des-moines-ia/ would probably cost you a pretty penny? I am not very internet savvy so I’m not entirely positive. Any tips or recommendation can be greatly appreciated. Kudos.
